Mobilitātei ir nepieciešams ilgtspējīgs un klimatam draudzīgs risinājums, piemēram, dzelzceļš. Diemžēl pēdējos gadu desmitos slēdza daudzus dzelzceļa posmus, to skaitā arī Pociema dzelzceļa pieturu. Dzelzceļu būtībā aizstāja autotransports, kas palielina piesārņojuma slogu.

Kopš 20. gs. sešdesmitajiem un septiņdesmitajiem gadiem  Latvijas teritorijā (tāpat kā citviet Eiropā) tika slēgtas šaursliežu dzelzceļa līnijas, bet, sākot no 20. gs. beigām, arī vairāki platsliežu dzelzceļi.  Vilcienu kustībai slēgto dzelzceļa līniju sliežu ceļi lielākoties ir pilnībā demontēti, ēkas un būves – pamestas vai privatizētas. Lielāko daļu no transporta sektora SEG emisijām 2018. gadā  radīja autoceļa transports (93,6 %), savukārt autotransporta apakšsektorā lielākais SEG emisiju radītājs pa transportlīdzekļu grupām ir pasažieru automašīnas, kam seko kravas transportlīdzekļi un autobusi. Dzelzceļš rada vien 5,6 % kopējo transporta sektora SEG emisiju, aviācija  –  0,1 %, bet jūras transports  –  0,7 %.

In order to find out the coordinates of the Pociems Station cache, you need to visit the indicated locations, answer the questions, and solve the task.

Mobility calls for a sustainable and climate friendly solution, for example, railway. Unfortunately, a lot of railway sections have been closed down over the past decades, including the Pociems railway station. Railway has been essentially replaced by road transport, which increases the pollution burden.

Since the 1960s and 70s, narrow-gauge railway lines have been closed down in the territory of Latvia (and in other European countries), whereas, starting with the end of the 20th century, several wide-gauge railway lines have also been closed. Most of the tracks of the railway lines closed down for train traffic have been completely disassembled, whereas the buildings and constructions have been abandoned or privatised. Several railway sections in Vidzeme and Southern Estonia have become part of the Green Railways project that foresees freshening up the closed railway lines by forming a cycling and walking route with a total length of approx. 750 km.

Railway accounts for only 5.6% of the total transportation sector’s GHG emissions, aviation accounts for 0.1%, whereas maritime transport – for 0.7%.
