Lasis un viņa jaunākais brālēns – taimiņš – ir ceļotājzivis. Tās ir zivis, kuru dzīves ciklā ļoti nozīmīga loma ir ceļošanai jeb migrācijai starp jūru, kur barojas pieaugušie īpatņi, un saldūdeņiem, kur upju straujtecēs tie nārsto un izaug mazuļi. Ja migrācija starp jūru un saldūdeņiem tiek kavēta, ceļotājzivju populācija strauji sarūk vai pat izzūd pavisam.

Tagad arī tev ir iespēja izbaudīt šīs mazās, mežonīgās upītes straujā tecējuma skanējumu un sajust, ka upe atkal ir dzīvīga!

In order to find out the coordinates of the 'River Noriņa" cache, you need to visit the indicated locations, answer the questions, and solve the task.

There is very bad service on the spot, so prepare in advance. You’ll find out value „F“ by counting the number of names that the River Noriņa has been given in written sources. Search the internet.

„G“ value you will find if you know what is river Norina lenght in kilometers. 

STAGE 1

Welcome to the small and slightly wild River Noriņa! It will take you on a quick journey of nature’s treasures. The River Noriņa is a tributary of the River Salaca, and it was blocked by an old mill dam for at least 100 years. The dam was interfering with the migration of naturally spawning salmon and trout.

You’ll find out value „A“ by answering what animal is displayed on the plate. Roe (24) Deer (12) Elk (36).

In 2015, the Latvian Fund for Nature and a group of volunteers restored the salmonid migration path by clearing the river from the old dam.

Salmon and its younger cousin – trout – are migratory fish. A large part of the lifecycle of these fish is dedicated to migration between the sea, where adults feed, and fresh water, where they spawn and grow in the river rapids. If migration between the sea and fresh water is halted, the population of migratory fish decreases rapidly and can disappear entirely.

Now you also have a chance to enjoy the sound of water flowing in this small, wild river, and feel it come back to life!
