This virtual cache is dedicated to the Baltic Way, and I also took part in it. The Baltic Way was a campaign in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, which took place on August 23, 1989 at 7PM, when about 2 million people holding hands formed for at least 15 minutes a living chain about 670 km long, connecting the capitals of the Baltic States Tallinn, Riga and Vilnius. This demonstration was organized to draw the world's attention to the historical events that the Baltic States have suffered. The Baltic Way took place exactly 50 years after the signing of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, when on August 23, 1939, the USSR and Germany divided spheres of influence in the eastern and northern parts of Europe.
