Keška je súčasťou CQ série 43. kešiek v 8. štátoch Európy. Na Slovensku vám ukáže zaujímavé miesta v Bratislave a priblíži ich význam. U nás pozostáva zo šiestich kešiek, zvyšné nájdeš rozdelené v Bulharsku, Česku, Rumunsku, Maďarsku, Nemecku, Litve a v Lotyšsku. Nájdením piatich z nich získaš kľúč k poslednej keške „Predstava budúcnosti“.
Pri hľadaní kešky „Adaptácia“ si môžeš všimnúť informačnú tabuľu s nadpisom "Na tomto mieste sa realizuje".... Jej obsah sa ti môže zísť k poslednej a nebude pre teba nutné sa vrátiť...
Hľadanie tejto kešky ťa zavedie na miesto, ktoré je modelovým príkladom adaptácie miest na zmenu klímy. Môžeš sa ním inšpirovať aj vo vlastnom živote!
„Kaskády“ sú ukážkou riešenia, akým sa mestá dokážu adaptovať na extrémy počasia, ktoré prináša zmena klímy. Keď sa dlhotrvajúce suchá striedajú s intenzívnymi návalovými dažďami pre mestá a obce to prináša veľké výzvy. Na jednej strane, ako zabezpečiť dostatok vlahy, keď je vody málo, na strane druhej ako ochrániť obydlia a infraštruktúru vtedy, keď je vody až príliš veľa.
S týmto problémom sa potrebovali vysporiadať aj ľudia na tomto sídlisku. Počas sucha býval svah, na ktorom práve stojíte úplne vyprahnutý, držal sa tu horúci vzduch a z holých miest bez vegetácie sa nepríjemne prášilo. Údržba zelene nestíhala v letných mesiacoch polievať stromy a okolitú vegetáciu dostatočne rýchlo, aby ich pred suchom ochránila.
Keď prišli intenzívne dažde vyschnutá zem nedokázala zadržať zrážkovú vodu a tá sa ako blato valila dole kopcom a zaplavovala pivnice v okolitých bytových domoch.
Mestská časť Karlova Ves v spolupráci s BROZ preto prišla s riešením.
Na svahu vybudovali systém dažďových záhrad, retenčných plôch a zasakovacích pásov, ktoré zadržiavajú vodu zo svahu a okolitých chodníkov. Tá sa potom pomaly odparuje a ochladzuje okolie.
Do svahu tiež zabudovali dve retenčné nádoby s objemom 7500 litrov, v ktorých sa zachytáva zrážková voda zo striech a terás bytov. Práve to môže byť odpoveďou na tvoju otázku "Prečo ten odkvap končí v zemi?".
Táto voda potom slúži na polievanie okolitej vegetácie v čase sucha. Šetria sa tým aj finančné prostriedky, pretože táto „čistá voda“ zbytočne neputuje do čističky, ale ostáva tam, kde ju treba a kde sa využije.
V čase, keď musia mestá čoraz častejšie čeliť extrémom počasia sú takéto adaptačné riešenia na vzostupe. Pri tom často zisťujeme, že najlepším spôsobom, ako sa ochrániť pred dopadmi zmeny klímy je pozvať prírodu bližšie do našich miest.

Cache is a part of a CQ serie - 43 caches across 8 states in Europe. In Slovakia, caches will show you interesting places in Bratislava and explain their significance. In Slovakia, there are 6 caches, the rest you can find in Bulgaria, Czechia, Romania, Hungary, Germany, Latvia and Lithuania. To unlock the key to the last cache „Imagining the future“ you will first need to complete the first five caches.
While looking for the cache "Adaptacia" (Adaptation), you may notice information board with heading "Na tomto mieste sa realizuje..." (At this place is realized...). What's on them can help you forl last cache and you won't have to go back...
The hunt for this cache will bring you to a place which serves as a model example of urban climate change adaptation measures. It can also serve as an inspiration for our every day life!
„Casacades“ are an example of a solution that cities can employ to adapt to the extreme weather events brought about by climate change. Citites are faced with a big challenge when long-term drought is followed by extreme rains. On the one hand they need to solve the problem with securing water during dry-spells, on the hand they need to protect infrastructure and buildings during torrential rains.
At Cascades the effects of extreme weather was very palpable. During droughts the hill at which you stand used to be like a desert. Vegetation had trouble to sustain itself on the arid slope, the area was very dusty as hot air carried the dirt from the exposed earth. When torrential rains arrived the arid earth could not absorb the rain water fast enough, the run-off carried the dirt from the slope and flood the cellars of the surrounding houses.
The Karlova Ves district, in cooperation with the BROZ association, therefore came up with a solution. They built a system of rain gardens, retention ponds and seepage belts on the slope. This system collects water from the slope and surrounding side-walks and is able to retain it for longer periods. During hot days the water slowly evaporates thus cooling the surrounding area.
Two large 7 500 litre retention tanks were also built into the slope. These tanks collect rainwater from the roofs and terraces of the surrounding houses. This rain water is then used to water the trees and vegetation on the hill during dry periods. The retention of rainwater also saves public money because otherwise this clean water would be chanelled into the waste water treatment thus increasing the costs of waste water treatment plant.
