I checked Wikepedia for anything significant that happened on this day to celebrate and nothing came up of significance other than it's Grandfathers Day in Poland, Queen Victoria died in 1901 or how about it's Guy Fieri's 54th birthday? So why not get together just because "It's a brand New Year" and we aren't in the cold temperatures of the country.
The event will take place at a nice little park in Globe called Round Mountain Park. This park is a beautiful area known for the spring wild flowers and has some great paths to hike. If you feel energetic there is a "summit" to hike with a great view of Globe. There are caches on the trails to grab too! I will provide some refreshments, so enjoy a bite to eat and some socializing. If time allows how about some local caching on your own or with friends and a meetup for lunch later? See the additional waypoints for location and time. Just let me know if you will be able to have lunch also and how many in your party for reservation purposes. There is no requirement to purchase food or drinks, just come socialize if you can. (This would be a seperate event if the guidelines allowed for it.)
