spooky_luke: GZ has had a serious haircut and the hiding spot is very exposed. As the cache is missing, I've decided to archive this one. Thanks to all who visited.

About SideTracked Caches

This cache belongs to the SideTracked series. It is not designed to take you to a magical place with a breath taking view. It's a distraction for the weary traveller, but anyone else can go and find it too. More Information can be found at the SideTracked Website

Roche railway station serves the village of Roche which is located between Par and Newquay in Cornwall. It is situated on the Atlantic Coast Line.

Opened originally as the Cornwall Minerals Railway on 1st June 1874, the first trains carried only goods traffic. A depot was provided at nearby Holywell (near St Gundred’s Well). A passenger service was introduced on 20th June 1876 at which point the depot was renamed "Victoria", which gave its name to the modern hamlet at that site, and then changed to "Roche" on 1 May 1904.

The passing loop was extended on 3rd July 1936 to accommodate the longer holiday trains then using the line. It was closed on 3rd January 1965 when the goods yard was closed. For a while, trains used the old westbound platform but on 12th July 1965 this was changed to the eastbound platform and the westbound track was then removed.
