Come out and enjoy an evening skate at Bowness Park!
Lace up your skates and enjoy an evening on the beautiful Bowness skating rink! This event takes place from 7:00-7:30 pm at the large structure in the centre of the main skating rink in Bowness Park.
SPECIAL NOTES:
1) Helmets are highly recommended - skate at your own risk!
2) The Bowness Park rental shop is closed on weekdays, so there will be no option to rent skates on site. Skaters, you will be required to bring your own special gear: a pair of skates (both hockey skates and figure skates are permitted on the ice). You are welcome to walk to the event site, but please be aware that this event takes place on smooth, solid ice - there will be a very significant slipping hazard!
3) Please do your best to abide by social distancing protocols, but also be aware of skaters enjoying themselves around you. Try to stay close to the structure if you are standing around, in an effort to avoid disturbances and provide space for other skaters on the ice.
4) No dogs are allowed on the ice.
5) Hockey sticks, nets and/or pucks are not permitted. Strollers and stabilization bars for skating are permitted.
6) There are several fantastic ice trails branching off from the main rink, some are lit with lights to allow for pleasant evening skating. Consider coming early or staying late after the event for a skate on the ice trails! I will go for a skate down one of the trails after the event, anybody who wants to join is welcome!
7) This event is scheduled for late January and it might be COLD. Dress accordingly! If temps are forecasted to be lower than about -15 C, I will consider re-scheduling the event to a warmer evening.
