The City of Waukesha Parks, Recreation and Forestry with AuntieNae invite you and your family to join us for this long running tradition!  Our first Waukesha Winter Janboree Event was held on January 22, 2005 (GCM6F7) making this our 18th Annual event.

Depending upon the COVID restrictions that maybe in place at the time of this event, everything is subject to change so please post your & will attend so you can get the respective announcements.

9:00 AM-11:45 AM MEET AND GREET

The coordinates listed above will bring you to the ROTARY BUILDING located in Frame Park.  Stop in say hello and meet up with other Geocachers, share your geocaching stories, trade your travel bugs and trackables, share your Pathtags.  If you do not like winter geocaching, you are most welcome to come and say hello!  Please note that this is not our typical location for those who have attended in the past.

10:30-11:30 AM GEOCACHING 101

New to Geocaching? Come join us for this presentation. Geocaching, a global game of treasure hunting using longitude and latitude coordinates, is a fun filled adventure for all ages. With your Smart Phone or a GPS receiver, and internet access, you are ready to explore and search for a “geocache.” This presentation will focus on the basics needed to get started in participating in this eco-friendly family friendly sport including suggested equipment, the website, how to search for a cache, and types of caches. Learn how you, your family, and even friends, can explore the parks in a new way.  Learn how to find all the new geocaches hidden for this event!

12:00-2:00 PM MIA's Restaurant Meet Up N43 00.639 W 88 13.961

Always a Janboree Favorite, we will be returning to Mia's Restaurant for lunch.  Food purchase is NOT required.  Parking could be challenging at it is located downtown so plan ahead.  Food and beverage purchases will be on your own.

WEATHER CANCEL?  Are we geocachers or what?  Will we cancel for snow?  This event will be held snow or no snow, extreme cold or snow or sun.  It just adds to the fun.

I must express a HUGE Thank you to the local geocachers who wanted to see this event continue and are working behind the scenes hiding a series of new geocaches in and around Waukesha in time for this event. The geocaches typically publish on Friday evening thanks to the efforts of our local reviewers who work with us to make it all happen. A bookmark list will be created after they all publish. If you would like to hide a cache for Janboree, please reach out to me.
