“Gaujiena – mana paradīze…” teicis izcilais komponists Jāzeps Vītols, kad Latvijas valsts par īpašiem nopelniem viņam piešķīra daļu no Gaujienas muižas parka. Nosakot dāvināmā zemes gabala apmērus, rīkojumā bija stingri noteikts, ka zemes gabalā jāietilpst “pēc iespējas vairāk dabas jaukumu, jo tas domāts galvenām kārtām kā atpūtas vieta J. Vītolam, kura nodarbošanās nav lauksaimniecība.” Bijusī Gaujienas muižas aldara divstāvu koka mājiņa un 60 pūrvietu “dabas jaukumu” kļuva par vietu, kur Jāzeps Vītols pavadīja katru brīvlaiku līdz pat brīdim, kad bija jāatstāj Latvija 1944. gada oktobrī.
Muzejs “Anniņas” sāka darbu 1961. gadā, lai saglabātu Jāzepa Vītola piemiņu, dokumentus, fotogrāfijas, notis un priekšmetus, kas saistīti ar viņa radošo mūžu. Muzejā iespējams noskatīties dažādus videomateriālus, kas stāsta par komponista daiļrades daudzveidīgo mantojumu, Dziesmusvētku vēsturi un nometni Vītolēni, kā arī piedāvā ekskluzīvu iespēju “tikties” ar Jāzepu Vītolu!

“Gaujiena – my paradise...” said the great composer Jāzeps Vītols, when the Latvian state granted him a part of Gaujiena Manor Park for special merits. In determining the size of the land to be donated, the decree strictly stipulated that the land should include “as many natural beauties as possible, since it is intended primarily as a place of leisure for J. Vītols, whose occupation is not farming”. The former two-storey wooden cottage of the Gaujiena Palace’s butler and around 22 hectares of the “natural beauties” became the place where Jāzeps Vītols spent every holiday until he had to leave Latvia in October 1944.
The Anniņas Museum was established in 1961 to preserve the memory of Jāzeps Vītols, documents, photographs, sheet music notes and objects related to his creative life. The museum offers a variety of videos about the composer's diverse heritage of his creative work, the history of the Song Festival and Camp Vītolēni, as well as an exclusive opportunity to "meet" Jāzeps Vītols!

The cache is a part of the “The Forest Trail” cache series. The Forest Trail is a part of the European long-distance hiking route E11 in the Baltic States, which leads through the most beautiful forests and national parks of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. The project, which has been developed with the financial support of the European Regional Development Fund Central Baltic Programme 2014-2020, includes 45 cache places in the northern part of the Forest Trail from Old Riga to the Estonian border. We recommend combining cache hunting with a walk along one of the 15 scenic sections of the northern part of the Forest Trail.
