Mežtakas Ziemeļu daļas posmā no Vecrīgas līdz Igaunijas robežai, kurš izstrādāts ar Eiropas Reģionālās attīstības fonda Centrālā Baltijas jūras reģiona pārrobežu sadarbības programmas 2014.–2020. gadam finansiālu atbalstu, izvietoti 45 slēpņi. Iesakām apvienot slēpņu meklēšanu ar pastaigu pa kādu no 15 ainaviskajiem Mežtakas Ziemeļu daļas posmiem.

The 11th section of the Forest Trail leads through the Cirgaļi Dunes, an inland dune massif formed at the end of the Ice Age, where lichen-rich pine forests grow — a beautiful landscape rarely seen in inland Latvia. The Cirgaļi Dunes area is a real pharmacy of nature! The air of the pine forest is therapeutic — phytoncides and essential oils released by pine needles, which create a typical pine forest scent, have antibacterial properties and positive effects on the immune system, respiration and blood circulation, it also calms the nervous system, reducing fatigue and tension, and increasing the vital capacity of the lungs. Iceland lichen, which grows here, is one of nature's most powerful antibiotics and is widely used in medicine to stimulate appetite and digestion, treat coughs, inflammations of the digestive organs and other ailments. If Iceland lichen is dried and grinded up, the powder can be used to treat purulent wounds.

The cache is a part of the “The Forest Trail” cache series. The Forest Trail is a part of the European long-distance hiking route E11 in the Baltic States, which leads through the most beautiful forests and national parks of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. The project, which has been developed with the financial support of the European Regional Development Fund Central Baltic Programme 2014-2020, includes 45 cache places in the northern part of the Forest Trail from Old Riga to the Estonian border. We recommend combining cache hunting with a walk along one of the 15 scenic sections of the northern part of the Forest Trail.
