Vidzemes šosejas malā, starp Vangažiem un Siguldu, apskatāma grandioza, bet bieži nepamanīta ēka, kas 80. gados bija viena no modernākajām un lielākajām kultūras celtnēm Latvijā. Vēsturiski tā piederējusi zvērsaimniecībai „Gauja”, kalpojot kā kultūras nams, kur baudīt vokālo meistaru talantus un jaunradi, smelties iedvesmu mākslā. Šajā ēkā reiz bija kinoteātris, veikali, kafejnīcas, teātra skatuve, kādu laiku arī apģērbu tirgus. 1986. gadā režisors Jānis Streičs šeit uzņēma vienu no savulaik populārajām un tautā mīlētajām filmām „Aizaugušā grāvī viegli krist”. Diemžēl gadu gaitā šī vieta pamazām iegrima aizmirstībā. Laiki mainījās, mainījās arī cilvēku prioritātes un intereses. Kultūras nams tika izdemolēts un pamests, līdzi paņemot tā laika vēsturiskās liecības.
Laika zoba skarto ēku, kuru pa gabalu var atpazīt pēc milzīgās radio antenas, kas joprojām atrodas uz celtnes jumta, 2017. gadā ievēroja brāļi Juris un Jānis Rīti. Tā aizmirstībā nonākušais kultūras centrs, kam ziedu laiki jau bija pagātnē, no gadiem ilgās pamestības beidzot nokļuva gādīgās rokās. Te top vēsturisko spēkratu centrs, klubs un muzejs. Ja rūpīgi ieskatās, pagalmā ap ēku paslēpušies vairāki leģendāri padomju laiku transportlīdzekļi. Topošajā Tehnikas kultūras centrā jaunie īpašnieki pamazām, izmantojot pieejamos resursus, veido vēsturisko spēkratu muzeju.

On the side of Vidzeme Highway, between Vangaži and Sigulda, there is a grandiose but often overlooked building, which was one of the most modern and major cultural buildings in Latvia in 1980s. Historically, it belonged to the “Gauja” holding, serving as a culture centre where to enjoy the talents and creativity of vocal masters and draw inspiration in art. In this building, there was once a cinema, shops, cafes, a theater stage, and for some time a clothing market. In 1986, the film director Jānis Streičs shot one of the once popular and loved films “It’s Easy to Fall in an Overgrown Ditch” there. Unfortunately, over the years, the place gradually sank into oblivion. Times changed, and people's priorities and interests changed as well. The House of Culture was demolished and abandoned, taking along also the historical testimony of the time.
In 2017, the time-dented building, which can be recognized at a distance by the huge radio antenna still on the roof of the building, was noticed by the brothers Juris and Jānis Rīti. The culture centre that had fallen into oblivion, with its prosperous times in the past, was finally under care after the long years of desolation. They are creating a centre of historic vehicles, a club and museum here. If you look carefully, there are several legendary Soviet vehicles hiding around the building. Using the available resources, the new owners are gradually turning the building into the Technical Culture Centre housing a museum of historic vehicles.

The geocache is part of the “FOREST TRAIL” series of geocaches. The Forest Trail is a part of the European long-distance hiking route E11 in the Baltic States, which runs through the most beautiful forests and national parks of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. In the northern part of the Forest Trail created with the financial support of the Transborder Cooperation Programme for 2014–2020 of the European Regional Development Fund for the Central Baltic Sea Region 45 geocaches have been deployed between the Old Riga and the Estonian border. We recommend combining the geocache search with a walk through one of the 15 landscape sections of the northern part of Northern part of the Forest Trail.
