Geocache Description:

Vietas apraksts: Mežtakas gājēja uzticamā ceļabiedre cauri Vidzemei ir Gauja – dažos posmos tā klusi līkumo blakus, citos atklājas elpu aizraujošos skatos. Arī aiz Zvārtavas pils Mežtaka uzskrien Gaujas ielejas stāvajā krastā līdz Gaujienas centram, kur no baznīckalna atklājas tāla, brīnišķīga Gaujas ainava. Trapenietis, Gaujienas vidusskolas absolvents Ojārs Vācietis, kurš Gauju dēvējis par Vidzemes asinsriti un kaklarotu, rakstījis šādi:

“Kurš ūdens tā būtu smējies,

Ja to pasmeļ ar sauju?

Q =X*Y

W= Z-1

K=Y+1

Ieraksti trūkstošās vērtības slēpņa koordinātēs:

Description of the place: When going through Vidzeme, the River Gauja is the faithful companion of the Forest Trail hiker– in some sections the river meanders quietly by, in others it reveals itself in breathtaking views. Beyond Zvārtava Castle, the Forest Trail also runs up the steep bank of the River Gauja valley to the centre of Gaujiena, where the Church hill offers a distant, wonderful view of the River Gauja. Ojārs Vācietis, a graduate of Gaujiena Secondary School and a very famous Latvian writer and poet, who called the River Gauja the bloodstream and necklace of Vidzeme, wrote the following:

“Which of the waters would emit a sound of laughter

when scooped up with a hand?

God has fallen in love by bringing the River Gauja into the world.”

However, the Gauja's fast-moving nature is not suitable for swimming everywhere, so the lakes offer a calmer respite for the Forest Trail hikers. Behind Zvārtava Castle, the Forest Trail marches along the picturesque Zvārtava Lake, where there is a place for a swim, a leisurely lunch or a bonfire.

The cache is not located at the coordinates indicated. To find out the location of the cache, please study the picture of Zvārtava Lake drawn by J. Bubučs in 1975, and determine the average and maximum depth of the lake:

The lake has an average depth of X  metres

The lake has a maximum depth of Y.Z meters

Q =X*Y

W= Z-1

K=Y+1

Enter the missing values in the cache coordinates:

Description of the cache: The cache is a small-size lock&lock container with a guest book and a pencil inside. Please return the cache to its exact location.

The cache is a part of the “The Forest Trail” cache series. The Forest Trail is a part of the European long-distance hiking route E11 in the Baltic States, which leads through the most beautiful forests and national parks of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. The project, which has been developed with the financial support of the European Regional Development Fund Central Baltic Programme 2014-2020, includes 45 cache places in the northern part of the Forest Trail from Old Riga to the Estonian border. We recommend combining cache hunting with a walk along one of the 15 scenic sections of the northern part of the Forest Trail.
