Ķērpju apaugums rada īpatnēju skatu, it kā atsegums būtu nokvēpis.

Mežtaka ir Eiropas garās distances pārgājienu maršruta E11 daļa Baltijas valstīs, kas ved cauri Latvijas, Lietuvas un Igaunijas skaistākajiem mežiem un nacionālajiem parkiem. Mežtakas Ziemeļu daļas posmā no Vecrīgas līdz Igaunijas robežai, kurš izstrādāts ar Eiropas Reģionālās attīstības fonda Centrālā Baltijas jūras reģiona pārrobežu sadarbības programmas 2014.–2020. gadam finansiālu atbalstu, izvietoti 45 slēpņi. Iesakām apvienot slēpņu meklēšanu ar pastaigu pa kādu no 15 ainaviskajiem Mežtakas Ziemeļu daļas posmiem.

Description of the place: Behind Zvārte Rock, the Forest Trail runs up the high bank of the Amata Valley and meanders along the historical Cēsis-Rīga “highway”, which is now a small rural and forest road, on the side of which, when approaching Cēsis, the observant hiker will see Rakšu Cliffs, also called “Rakstu Cliffs”. A strong spring flows out at the foot of the cliffs, and the cliff face is overgrown with lichen – black cystocoleus, which is rare in Latvia, mostly found only near the River Gauja on Devonian sandstone outcrops, and it is included in the list of specially protected species. The lichen growth creates a distinctive appearance, as if the outcrop has been burned.

The cache is a part of the “The Forest Trail” cache series. The Forest Trail is a part of the European long-distance hiking route E11 in the Baltic States, which leads through the most beautiful forests and national parks of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. The project, which has been developed with the financial support of the European Regional Development Fund Central Baltic Programme 2014-2020, includes 45 cache places in the northern part of the Forest Trail from Old Riga to the Estonian border. We recommend combining cache hunting with a walk along one of the 15 scenic sections of the northern part of the Forest Trail.
