Īpašs prieks par dzidru un vēsu avota ūdeni ir tālāka ceļa gājējiem, kuru līdzpaņemtie ūdens krājumi jau izsīkuši. Kā vēsta leģendas, avota ūdens ne tikai veldzē slāpes, bet var būt arī ar dziedējošām vai citām brīnumainām īpašībām. Populārākais Līgatnes apkārtnē ir Skaļupes avots, uz kuru pēc gardā ūdens mēdzot braukt arī no attālākām vietām. Skaļupīte īpaša arī ar to, ka tajā var atrast savdabīgo lodīšu smilšakmeni, par kura izcelsmi ģeologi joprojām nav vienojušies. Lodītes var būt kā sīkas pērlītes vai pat prāva kartupeļa izmērā. Aizstaigā līdz avotam, padzeries un papildini savu ūdens pudeli tālākam ceļam!

Mežtakas Ziemeļu daļas posmā no Vecrīgas līdz Igaunijas robežai, kurš izstrādāts ar Eiropas Reģionālās attīstības fonda Centrālā Baltijas jūras reģiona pārrobežu sadarbības programmas 2014.–2020. gadam finansiālu atbalstu, izvietoti 45 slēpņi. Iesakām apvienot slēpņu meklēšanu ar pastaigu pa kādu no 15 ainaviskajiem Mežtakas Ziemeļu daļas posmiem.

It is rich in sandstone cliff outcrops at the foot of which springs break out in many places. The clear and cool spring water is a great pleasure for the hikers who plan to go further and whose water supplies are running low. According to the legend, spring water not only quenches thirst but can also have healing or other miraculous properties. The most popular spring in the Līgatne area is Skaļupe, where people from further afield often come for the delicious water. Skaļupīte is also special because it is home to the peculiar ball-shaped sandstone, the origin of which geologists still disagree on. The sandstones can be as small as a seed bead or as big as a large potato. Take the opportunity to walk to the spring, drink, and refill your water bottle for the journey ahead!

The cache is a part of the “The Forest Trail” cache series. The Forest Trail is a part of the European long-distance hiking route E11 in the Baltic States, which leads through the most beautiful forests and national parks of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. The project, which has been developed with the financial support of the European Regional Development Fund Central Baltic Programme 2014-2020, includes 45 cache places in the northern part of the Forest Trail from Old Riga to the Estonian border. We recommend combining cache hunting with a walk along with one of the 15 scenic sections of the northern part of the Forest Trail.
