The memorial commemorates both world Wars and some more modern conflicts. It was unveiled on 4th April 1926 and is located in Victoria Square in St Helens.
The memorial is a Portland stone, four-sided obelisk with stepped base. It has granite tablets with gilt, engraved names. There are pedestals on three of its sides.
At the memorial, on one side of it, high up, see a plaque which says "SOUTH ATLANTIC 1982". There is a name associated with this.
