Are you ready for another 30 minutes of crazy fun? Well, the world famous Guam Geocachers are participating in the World Wide Flash Mob Event. The information is as follows:
WWFM XVIII - Strike a Pose
Date: Saturday, September 18, 2021
Time: 10:00 am - 10:30 am (Only 30 minutes!)
Where: Statue of Liberty Park - Paseo
This is one in a Series of World Wide Flash Mob Events that will occur simultaneously on September 18, 2021. It is a gathering of Geocachers, their families and friends.
This event will only be 30 minutes long! You MUST be present and sign the log sheet DURING this time to claim the event. Please BYOP! (Bring your own pen)
About the Event
This event is in conjunction with dozens of other World Wide Flash Mob (WWFM) events that will be held simultaneously around the world. Come be a part of a worldwide caching event, with potentially thousands of participants!
You've heard of mega-events? This is quite the opposite in a variety of ways. The event will last exactly 30 minutes, not one second longer. The event will begin PRECISELY at 10:00 am Guam Standard Time on Saturday, September 18, 2021.
The event will be held at Statue of Liberty Park in Paseo. Our theme this year will be "Strike a Pose" so there is nothing special that you need to bring to the event except yourselves.
10:00 am - Wander towards and around the Statue of Liberty, chit chatting and making small talk. Prepare to strike a pose when you hear the whistle blow. Hopefully, you are somewhere near the statue, although not necessarily in a group.
10:?? am - The whistle will blow. At that time, you will freeze wherever you are and will remain frozen until the whistle blows again. We will video everyone in their pose. Hopefully, when you are frozen, you'll be in an interesting, natural pose. You can be looking out towards the ocean, pointing at the statue, searching for a geocache in the bushes, or whatever you feel like doing and whatever you think would be interesting. You can even team up with other geocachers to do a group pose. Just remember that you have to hold the pose until the whistle blows again.
After the second whistle blows, everyone will head to the Statue of Liberty where we will take a group picture of everyone posing like Lady Liberty.
10:10 - 10:20 am - Everyone will sign the log sheet and receive a raffle ticket. Mix and Mingle with other cachers! A cache bucket will be out with trades. Remember, take an item - leave an item! The event "meal" and "drinks" will be served.
10:20 - 10:25 am - Drawing for prizes and FTF honors.
10:25 - 10:30 am - Clean up and prepare to leave the area.
10:30 am - LEAVE the area!
If everything goes right we will have a "mob" of geocachers come together, freeze for a few minutes, strike a pose with Lady Liberty, enjoy a few minutes of fun, and then disappearing. This should be lots of fun and maybe even raise a few muggle eyebrows.
Note: Although participants are welcome to get together after the event, the event will officially be over at 10:30 am. Afterwards, participants may chat, meet, eat and plan for a day of caching. We just ask that these arrangements be done away from the event area.
