Geocache Description:

Update! 9/4/16
You no longer need to visit the bridge to calculate the coordinates to the cemetery. The plaque is missing, so I uploaded a photo of the plaque to the cache page. Use this photo to find the cemetery.
Also, the bridge is closed, so I added parking coordinates that do not require crossing of the bridge.

The SQ in the cache name above signifies Spirit Quest, a project by the Northwest Ohio Geocachers to distinguish those caches that are set in cemeteries or memorial gardens. This cache is part of that series created by nwogeo members to highlight cemeteries in the area. Please be respectful of the area, and observe the posted hours which are sunrise to sunset. For more information, go to http://www.nwogeo.org/modules.php?name=Spirit_Quest

You have to walk some for this one, but not much. If you are traveling on Rt. 24, between Toledo, Oh. and Ft. Wayne, Ind. this would be a good place to stop and stretch your legs, pee in the woods, and rack up a cache find.

This area is collectively called Turkey Foot. There are various entrances on both sides of the Maumee River. There are many trails, and there is a trail map available at this site. Hunting is allowed, but not on Sunday. I've never seen anyone here hunting (except mushrooms), but take care during the one week deer season, and don't walk around with a white handkerchief hanging out of your back pocket.

The coordinates will take you to a bridge. William Precht died here on Nov.-- 1931. Find his plaque and add the day of the month that he died to the last 3 digits of the latitude (N) to get to the final site. Go To: N. 41--24.(610) W. 83--59.377

(edit 9-4-16)
The plaque is no longer on the bridge. Please use this photo of the plaque to calculate coordinates to the cemetery.

You will find a small cemetery after this short walk. There is only one headstone still standing, and it is broken. To log this find, e-mail me the number that is on it. (it says -- yr.)(2 digits). I think it is how old the person was when he died. Short, but a nice walk in the woods. You can , of course, take any or all the trails for an extended hike. Have Fun.
