GMC #13: Bitter Pill

About This Location.

Pricketts Fort, constructed in 1774, provided a place of refuge from American Indian attacks for early settlers. It was built at the confluence of Pricketts Creek and the Monongahela River within 10 miles of three major American Indian trails. The Fort, which covers a 110 by 110-foot square, was built by the community militia and is named after Captain Jacob Prickett. As one of West Virginia's most unique living history museums, Pricketts Fort invites visitors to relive the pioneering spirit of Captain Jacob Prickett and his family. Travel back in time through the life of the Pricketts...and experience survival on the dangerous frontier of the late 1700s. Prickett's Fort State Park uses a living history style of interpretation to preserve, document, and exhibit the past. It features an 18th-century recreation of the original Prickett's Fort which provided a place of refuge from Indian attack. In addition, guests enjoy visiting the original 19th century Job Prickett House, Prickett Cemetery, Visitor Center, and Museum Gift Shop.

About This Cache.

D...N...F... Those can be some hard letters to swallow, but you've never had a taste of Killlerbee's bitter pill! Here near the cemetery, just a short walk from the Fort lies a standard ammo can. Who doesn’t love an ammo can in the woods? But it wouldn’t be a gadget cache without a twist. And that’s exactly what you need to do to sign the log. Twist this container in the right way to open it. Left & right, up & down… you’ll finally get it. It may be a bitter pill to swallow but the prize is worth the struggle. Please carefully replace everything as found and re-hide well.

THANKS FOR VISITING!
