St Hugh, Sturton by Stow

 

ST HUGH OF AVALON, STURTON BY STOW

 

St Hugh of Avalon, Sturton by Stow is a Grade II listed building, achieving the status on 16 December 1964. Also Grade II listed are the lychgate and wall, whih were listed on 12 July 1985.

The building was constructed in 1879 by John Loughborough Pearson.

It is unusually, for this area, built of red brick and the building is made up of a narthex, nave, north vestry and an apsidal chancel with rectangular north recess.

The interior is very plain as St Hugh was opend as Chapel of Ease for Stow Minster.
