War Memorial #1557 ~ Prestbury
The Prestbury War Memorial is a Cotswold Stone gothic revival column with six engraved panels commemorating the villagers who died in the First World War (1914–1918). The War Memorial was unveiled by the Bishop of Gloucester in 1921, and originally designed by local architect John Coates Carter (a resident of Prestbury).
In 2011, the memorial was vandalised, pushed over and parts stolen, resulting in the local community having to come together to fundraise so that the memorial could be restored to its original state.
To get the final co-ordinates for this cache, you must visit the war memorial (at the posted co-ordinates) and find some information there. The information and maths involved should all be fairly easy.
- Looking at the six engraved panels around the main column of the memorial, how many times does the name 'Percy' appear? = A
- Again looking at all six panels, how many times does the name 'George' appear? = B
- Find the person who has the surname 'Eggleton'. Their first name has how many letters? = C
- Now look on the panel which the top line is 'Pray For The Souls', how many letters are in the last word of this panel? = D
- And finally, look at the panel which starts 'God Forbid That I', how many letters are in the first word of the last line? = E
The final co-ordinates are:

W002 (B-B) (A+A). E ((B-C)+A) (C-C)
The main roads around Prestbury can be VERY busy at times, with vehicles travelling at fast speeds. So therefore i ask you to please be mindful of all roads, keep dogs on a short lead, and keep a watchful eye on children and buggies etc. Thank you.
