Geocache Description:

23 January 2022, 09:00 - 12:00

I have made the decision not to hold my BattleCache event this year due to a number of factors.

The new date is Sunday, 23th January, 2022.

Now I know this date change is not going to please everybody so I apologise now for any inconvenience to you.

I hope you can still come along and join in the friendly competition to see who will be crowned the BattleCache Grand Master.

CELEBRATING

A BELATED

INTERNATIONAL

GEOCACHING DAY

2021

Are you up for the challenge to compete in this year's BattleCache Tournament?

Who will be crowned the

2021 BattleCache Grand Master?

Geocachers of all ages are welcome to come along and join in to celebrate International Geocaching Day. Events are a great way for geocachers to meet, have fun, make friends, swap stories, discover and swap trackables, get hints on puzzle caches and generally discuss all things geocaching. Place this event in your diary and don't forget to post a "Will Attend" log.

Details:
Location - Blaxland Riverside Park - Look for a portable gazebo with balloons and the geocaching logo attached.
Date - Sunday, 23rd January, 2022
Time - 9:00am to 12:00pm
Access - Via Jamieson St off Holker St, Silverwater
Parking - Available nearby
What to Bring - A smile!! Plus BYO all food and drink requirements, picnic rugs, clipboard or folder, pen, trackables. There is limited seating so bringing a portable chair is a really good idea. Tea and coffee (instant) will be provided. There's a kiosk across the park if you are looking for real coffee and other refreshments.
Registration - Free registration for BattleCache will commence at 9:00am and close at 9:30am. Unfortunately, latecomers will not be permitted to join the tournament but are welcome to participate in the geocaching event. The knockout tournament will commence not long after 9:30am.
What if I don't want to compete in BattleCache? - No problem! Come along anyway and help make this a great International Geocaching Day!

So, what is BattleCache?
BattleCache is a knockout tournament. You must keep winning to progress. BattleCache is played the same way as the game Battleships except you are hunting for your opponent's geocaches. If you're not sure how to play Battleships, just Google it. Your task is to find all your opponent's geocaches first and therefore proceed to the next round. The last one standing in this knockout tournament will be declared our champion and crowned the.....
2021 BattleCache Grand Master

Each player has the following geocaches to place on their 8x8 grid:

1 Puzzle (P) - 6 squares
1 Adventure Lab (AL) - 5 squares
1 Earthcache (E) - 4 squares
1 Wherigo (W) - 4 squares
1 Virtual (V) - 3 squares
1 Multicache (M) - 3 squares
1 Letterbox (L) - 3 squares
1 Traditional (T) - 2 squares
1 Nano cache (N) - 1 square

Geocaches must be placed in a straight line either horizontally or vertically but not diagonally, see the example above. Players take it in turns to search a square using coordinates such at D3, A6, F2, etc. If the square you nominate does not contain part or whole of a geocache, your opponent will say, "DNF!" If the square you nominate contains part of a geocache, your opponent will say. "Found but not Logged". Once you have found all parts to a geocache, your opponent will say, "Found and Logged the (insert cache type here)!!" The first player to find all their opponent's geocaches is the winner and will proceed to the next round.

Players will be paired randomly for competition and game sheets will be provided. Depending on numbers competing, during a round, a player may receive a bye and proceed automatically to the next round. It's the luck of the game.

All decisions of the event organiser shall be final and no correspondence will be entered into!!
(But I do love chocolate! Just saying.... LOL!!!)

Here's hoping you can come along and help celebrate another great International Geocaching Day.

Cheers,
Calypso62
