Grab your yaks and get ready to sail the seven seas. Okay, maybe not the seven seas, but we will be floating down the Iowa River. We will be stopping for two caches along our route (Napolean and the Iowa River Sandbar Earth Cache) and who knows - there might be some new caches that pop up along the route.
READ THE ENTIRE DESCRIPTION SO THAT YOU DON'T MISS SOMETHING!
This event is rated a 5 terrain because you will need a boat to get to the posted coordinates...you must actually be at the posted coordinates in order to log the event. Showing up at the boat launch does not count as attending this event.
We will launch from the boat launch (see additional way points below) at 10:00 am and float down to the posted coordinates. The trip is approximately 9.5 miles and should take about 4-6 hours depending on the river level and stops for caches along the way. Bring a sack lunch in a sealed bag because we will have lunch at the posted coordinates when we get there.
Standard Disclaimers: Please cache within your limits - if you are attending this event, then you do so at your own risk. You are responsible for yourself and your belonging. Also, I don't have control over the river level so if the river level is low we may have to drag the kayaks at some points. That would definitely slow us down. In case of bad weather, the event may have to be cancelled.
