Geocache Description:

  • This virtual cache is for everyone, but particularly for cyclists (ZenBabes/Binks/Lou, et al). To log this find, you must get to the coordinates and find a sign on a fence and email us the ''license number'' listed there on.

Each year in March, usually on Saint Patrick's Day weekend, The Los Angeles Wheelmen Cycling Club hosts an event at this location. It is free to enter, and if you complete the task, you receive a free embroidered patch as a trophy of your accomplishment. The event is known as the Fargo Street Hill Climb. See these links for info:

Fargo Street

More Fargo Street

This street is purported to be the steepest street in the city of Los Angeles at 30% grade. All you geocaching cyclists may want to test your mettle on the hill when you come to log your find. Mountain bikes are OK, but REAL athletes do it on road bikes. Some studs can climb the monster over 20 times in one session. The ''5'' terrain difficulty is for using a bike. Make it a ''2'' on foot.

You can park here: N 34° 05.484 / W 118° 15.462. Although you can drive within feet of the cache coords, parking on the street itself is not recommended.

Have fun! Let us know if you brought your bicycle and made it up. And don't reveal your cache answer in your post, even encrypted.

10/20/02: We changed the coordinates to match GeoCraig's since they seem to get you closer. Thanks GeoCraig
