Geocache Description:

The cache is not at the given waypoints, but you will need to visit them to gather some information which will help you find the cache location.

First though, some local history.

In October 1940 the village of Cippenham was hit twice by Luftwaffe air attacks, causing fatalities in both instances.

On 14th October two bombs were dropped on the old people’s cottages on the Brook Path side of Bridge Close. Four people lost their lives: Ada Louisa Farrance age 70, Joseph Charles Fletcher age 75, Alfred William Werrell age 76, and Alice Georgina Werrell age 69.

No one knows why these houses were attacked. Conditions were described as perfect for an air raid, with clear weather and what was called a ‘bomber’s moon’. The plane may have been flying over the village heading for London, or alternatively targeting the nearby Slough Trading Estate.

The plane drew fire from anti-aircraft batteries, and speculation was that finding himself under fire the pilot panicked, dropped his bombs and bolted.

On 28th October a lone bomber in poor weather dropped bombs on Dennis Way killing Emily Louisa Butler age 32 and Albert Edward Clapson age 24. The house was next to Cippenham Primary School.

This cache is dedicated to the people of Cippenham, civilians and serving personnel, who lost their lives during the First and Second World Wars.

Hopefully all stages are wheelchair friendly - there is good pavement throughout and the cache is low down and retrievable from the path.

Please bring tweezers and your own pen.

Now to the stages. You will need to visit two waypoints, discover the information required below, and use it to determine the location of the cache.
