Geocache Description:

A continuation of the 'Side-Tracked' Series...

The cache is not located at the published coordinates, which are for Hampton Court station. There is a car park at the station, but it is a pay and display. There may be more appropriate places to pull up for a cache and dache!

About SideTracked caches

SideTracked caches are not designed to take you to a magical place with a breath taking view.  It's a distraction for the weary traveller, but anyone else can go and find it too.  I must admit, however, that this one is a little different; there is a rather lovely view of Hampton Court Palace from the nearby bridge. The view won’t help you solve the puzzle, however it is definitely worth a look! More information about the series can be found at SideTracked Website.

About Hampton Court Station

100 yards away from Hampton Court Bridge lies Hampton Court station, the terminus of the Hampton Court line that serves East and West Molesey. (The nearby parade of shops has been branded 'Hampton Court Village'- but as everyone that lives there would protest, it is in fact Molesey!) The station was opened on the 1st February 1849, as a one platform suburban line. The station was built on land owned by a local church, and after it passed through the hands of Hampton Court Palace it was gifted to the local council. The land is formed by the confluence of the Thames and the nearby Ember, and was originally accessed via a wooden bridge from Creek Road. By 1868 four lines, four platforms, a railway turntable, a coal depot and ancillary buildings made up a much larger site than exists now. Between 1912 and 1929, the station achieved its maximum establishment of ten tracks. The station currently accomadates two platforms. In 2019-20, 1.5 million passengers passed through the station. It is a planned terminus on the Crossrail 2 development, connecting Hampton Court with north London stations, such as New Southgate and Broxbourne.
