Geocache Description:

Slēpnis atrodas netālu no sliežu pārbrauktuves.

1897. gadā Maskavas – Ribinskas dzelzceļa sabiedrība saņēma koncesiju platceļu dzelzceļa būvei no Maskavas uz Ventspili. Latvijas teritorijā tā ir 456 km garā Zilupes – Krustpils – Jelgavas – Tukuma - Ventspils līnija. Šīs līnijas posms Jelgava - Krustpils, kura malā novietots slēpnis, satiksmei tika atklāts 1904. gadā.

Pa dzelzceļa līniju Jelgava-Krustpils agrāk brauca arī pasažieru vilciens, tomēr no 2000.gada pasažieru pārvadāšana visā dzelzceļa līnijā pārtraukta. Šobrīd tur kursē tikai kravas vilcieni, kurus ja paveicas var arī redzēt un saskaitīt to vagonus! :)
