There are many parks and land areas that support our hobby by allowing the placement of geocaches. We can return the favor and help keep these places beautiful with our CITO events.
Barnes Preserve has a list of spring "housekeeping" duties and have requested additional help. These include:
- There is always trash to pick up all along the front of the park from people littering!
- Pulling weeds out of the gravel around the main parking lot and pavilion needs done.
- Picking up sticks/branches around the mowed area out front and throwing them into the woods
- Pulling all the staples out of the bulletin board part of the kisoks and re-painting them (there are 2) is another project. The preserve would supply the paint and brushes and small ladder (if needed).
You will not be expected to do anything outside of your comfort zone. There are plenty of chores for every age and ability. Any help is greatly appreciated. Please post your will attend log and arrive prepared to work. Expect your clothes to get dirty! We will be exclusively outdoors and there is ample room for everyone to spread out and adhere to the Ohio caching events guidelines. Meet in the large pavilion at the end of the Main parking lot to get your assignments.
If you have a ladder, extra bucket, gloves, shovel or rake at home and are able to bring it along, it will make the work much easier! Anything yardwork related is appropriate.
Drinking water will be provided.
