After setting up my Circles cache in North Wales, I was inspired to create this locationless cache to try to capture as much information as possible about Stone Circles in the UK and elsewhere in the world...
The stone circle pictured above is the Druid's Circle above Penmaenmawr in North Wales and is very close to the site of my Circles cache... This circle is between 4000 and 5000 years old and actually predates the Druids by several thousand years. I will leave this and the other three nearby circles unlogged so that the first few people to find Circles can also log this as a bonus...
Logging a find
To log a find on this cache, you will need to:
- Visit an example of an ancient stone circle (minimum of 1000 years old and a minimum of 5 standing stones - see photo for example)
- Take photograph(s) of the stone circle with your GPSr clearly visible in the photo
- Do some research to find out about the history of the site
- Log your find, providing the coordinates of the centre of the circle, and as much information as possible about the stone circle (diameter, number of stones, origins, history)
Additional Rules
- One find per geocacher/team.
- One find per Stone Circle.
- Any people getting creative with Photoshop and old photos will, of course, be publicly humiliated...
