GZ is the parking area. Do not park on Highway 141, at the school, or
block any driveways! Please be respectful of the neighbors along the street.
Organizers are working with Parkway School District for brush pickup.
This historic cemetery has ties to early settlers of the area. See the wonderful write up for the nearby geocache for more information. These grounds are the final resting place of William Douglas Bacon and family. Over the years there had been disrepair and vandalism. Nature, particularly invasive honeysuckle, has also made the stones difficult to find.
Recently, interested community members have undertaken cleanup days to restore the cemetery to a better state. Because geocachers care about preserving historic places and nature, it seemed natural to contribute our efforts. Please bring a rake, lawn bags, and gloves. You may want to bring loppers. The goal is to take, remove honeysuckle, and move downed logs to the greenspace between the cemetery and the highway. Parkway will then remove the bags and brush.
Water will be provided.
Waypoint for trailhead will lead you to these steps which you need to be able to navigate to teach the worksite.
