Geocache Description:

02 October 2021, 10:00 - 17:00

You and your family are invited to the 18th annual GeoCaching Event by the Lacy Family.

Always held on the 1st weekend in October

This year it is at the Pioneer Campground #3 in Fort Mountain State Park near Chatsworth Georgia. This campground has two picnic tables which will be used to hold the food for the Saturday Potluck supper. There is a campfire ring for the nightly campfires. Create and enjoy your favorite cook out food, mixed with some GPS fun thrown in. Then spend a night or two if you want.

Covid 19 note: We currently believe that the pandemic will be over in time for the camp out. If this changes we will make adjustment to allow for the then current CDC guidelines. Be sure to request a watch for this geocache to keep up with any changes.

This event will be all day Saturday Oct 2, 2021, beginning at 10am until dark, or overnight if you like. For those spending the night be aware the camping ground is 130 yards from the parking spot. As past attends know, the event will be held rain or shine.

All activities are optional. You can take part in just one or two or any combination or all of them. If you just want to stop by socialize for awhile that is fine too.

Since this is in a Georgia State Park, you will need either a daily pass($5) or yearly pass

Each person or group is asked to bring a sack lunch. If you are spending the night, don't forget to bring your coffee and donuts, for Sunday morning.

For Saturday night there will be potluck meal, each family or group is responsible for bringing their own favorite camp food and cooking skills for you or your family to enjoy. We will eat around the evening camp fire that we will have for everybody to enjoy. We will set around the fire and tell some tall tales, and maybe somebody will tell a scary story.

You should try to bring everything you need but civilization is close by. There isn't water at the campground. There is a pit toilet (outhouse).

If you are real gun ho outdoor people, you are invited to camp with us overnight either Friday or Saturday or both. Things to bring will include heavy bed cover because Georgia nights in October may be cool or hot. Bring your tent and camping gear, and join the fun. But do come prepared for the weather.

Notice to people spending either night. Bears are much more numerous around Fort Mountain than any previous location that we have stayed. This is shown by the bear resistant garbage cans here. So be sure no food or food like materials are left out at night.

Games

Bubba, Johnnie, Robert and I are still working on the main game. Bubba says he has some family and friends in the area and they might help as well.
