In Latvia, there have been times of dispute and absence related to manor houses, and rarely did any manor survive the great manor house burning of 1905. At Ivande, the grand columns of the building were looted, and the manor was burned down along with many historical artifacts. However, Baron Heikings did not let it disappear and tirelessly restored it, but the well-known chaos, power struggles, and wars of the 20th century turned the manor house into a school, a community center for greenery balls, and a hospital for almost a century.
