[LAT] Pirmā pasaules kara laikā, 1915. gada beigās, Vācijas impērijas armija bija ieņēmusi Kurzemi, Zemgali un Sēliju. Frontes līnija bija nostiprinājusies līnijā Klapkalnciems – Kalnciems - Ķekava un tālāk gar Daugavu. Šādi fronte saglabājās līdz 1917. gada septembrim, kad Vācijas impērijas armija ieņēma Rīgu. Šo divu gadu laikā notika pozīciju karš un vācu armija savos nocietinājumos būvēja daudz betona ugunspunktus (blokhaužus, blockhaus), no kuriem daži ir saglabājušies līdz mūsu dienām. Šis ir viens no tiem, vienā avotā atzīmēts kā Ost Kastell (austrumu nocietinājums).
Slēpnis atrodas dumbrājā, tāpēc mitrā sezonā tajā ir daudz ūdens un ir ieteicams lietot gumijas zābakus. Nākot no ziemeļu puses ņemiet vērā, ka pie Odiņu mājām ir kanāla šķeršošanu aizliedzošas zīmes, kuras lūdzu respektēt (vieta atzīmēta reference point).

[ENG] During World War I, by the end of year 1915, German Imperial army had invaded Latvian regions Courland, Semigallia and Selonia. The front had stopped at line Klapkalnciems – Kalnciems - Ķekava and further upstream river Daugava. In these positions the front stayed till September 1917, when German Imperial army invaded Riga. During these two years the war was in positions and Germans in their defence line built many concrete blockhouses, several of which had survived till nowadays. This is one of them, and in one source it is named Ost Kastell (Eastern fort).
Cache is located in a swamp, so at wet seasons there is lots of water and rubber boots are advised. If you are coming from the norther side, take into consideration that by Odiņi farmstead signs prohibit crossing the canal (see reference point).
