Background
I'm sure this doesn't come as news to anyone, but a giant tar spill from a tanker on Feb. 11th has made its way to Israel's shores, causing massive damage to the coastal ecosystem. A large effort, including thousands of volunteers, has began to clear the beaches from clumps of tar.
Whoever attends this CITO will be tagging along to EcoOcean's cleanup crew and will need to comply with their guidelines.
Time
Ideally, the event would have occurred ASAP, but Geocaching guidelines specify that events must be created at least 2 weeks in advance.
Note, if someone's interested in joining, but can't make it at the published time, please message me and we'll see what we can do.
Place
Note, the location is tentative. As we near the event I may need to move it according to whichever nearest beach is being cleaned on this specific day. It's not likely to move more than 15km away. If you're considering joining, click on "Watch" to keep track with any updates, as I'll update the page (and write a note) in case of any updates. Also be sure to refresh this page before heading out here, just in case.
Update (2021-03-11): The official cleanup areas for this day have been published, and the location of the event has been updated accordingly. It's 6km north of the published coordinates. Use the waypoints to arrive to the right location.
Equipment
EcoOcean will supply us with the necessary equipment, so no need to bring anything special with you.
Also, we are still in times of COVID, so all mandated precautions are to be upheld. Specifically, make sure you come with face masks.
