Kimberley Weekend Gourmet Games Night Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

TwigNZ: Time to put this one to rest.
My thanks go out to everyone who attended, helped or otherwise supported this event. Especially @Etherlord Clan and @the Seagnoid for their help organising the games, and naturally our wonderful 'Camp Mother' whose baking skills alone helped me gain a kilo over the weekend :p
I hope you all had fun, and I hope to create a similar weekend of activities early next year - see you then :)

Geocache Description:

20 March 2021, 18:00 - 21:00

A "Food & Games" night to help unwind after a hard days caching. Kick back, relax, join in with any games that take your fancy. Don't worry if you've never seen or played them before, guidance will be freely available. Those doing the guiding are always up for bribery with Chocolate if you want to play better laugh

Games (both card and board games) will be available on the night, but feel free to bring along any you enjoy yourself.

Bring along your own Food and Drinks, and join us. There's plenty of takeaway options available in Levin about 7-8km away from this reserve for anyone who doesn't want to cook tonight :)

Ever since being awarded my CCE, I've been wracking my brains as to what I could do to make it memorable. After the fun I had a few months ago in the Pohangina Valley (thanks guys, you know who you are) I decided that imitation is the best form of flattery and to try to put together a weekend of caching events that would allow as many people as possible to join us for as much of the weekend as suits them.

The mainstay of the weekend will be based at the Kimberley Reserve, on the outskirts of Levin. This reserve allows Motor Homes and Camping (for a maximum of 2 nights) that is completely free of charge. You can learn more from the council website Kimberley-Reserve-Levin

Camping is by permit only. You can either sort out your own (free) permit using their online booking form on the link above (and if you want me too I can pick it up from the council and give it to you when you arrive at the reserve), or else there is a security guard that goes around the campground at about 7pm each evening, and they can issue permits on the spot. They are still free to do it this way.

The facilities there are rudimentary but adequate. There are toilets and changing rooms, drinking water, and good mobile reception there (definitely true for Spark/Skinny, less sure for Vodafone or 2Degrees as I'm not on those networks).

Nestled right by the Ohau river, the reserve is no more than 8km max (driving distance) from all the facilities of Levin such as supermarkets, cafes and takeaways, fuel, shops etc.

For anyone who wants to attend the weekend but would prefer a tad more luxury than available at Kimberley, there is a Motor Camp in Levin as well as plenty of Motels etc to choose from.
