Rūjienieši savu pilsētiņu sadalījuši četrās daļās un katrai devuši nosaukumu: Kalnkrogs, Centrs, Pārupe un Augšpilsēta. Lai Pārupes iedzīvotāji nonāktu kādā no citām pilsētas daļām, viņi pavisam vienkārši var Rūju arī pārpeldēt, bet labāk tomēr izmantot tiltus. Pārupi ar Centru savieno Valdemāra ielas stabilais dzelzsbetona tilts, bet, lai ceļš uz skolu, baznīcu un Kalnkrogu būtu īsāks, iedzīvotāju ērtībām kalpo trošu tilts - Laipas.
