How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

24 March 2021, 17:30 - 19:30

WHO:

  • Geocachers, GPS enthusiasts and people with an interest in the topic (new comers welcome).
  • Please RSVP by logging a "Will Attend" and indicate if you will be alone or have a "+1".

WHAT:

  • A GeoCaching GeoDinner GeoEvent where people with an interest in geocaching can catch up and discuss geocaching over a meal.
  • Event caches are gatherings that are organised and attended by geocachers. It’s the geocaching version of a party.

WHEN:

  • Wednesday 24th March 2021 starting at 5:30pm-ish.

WHERE:

  • Mure's LOWER DECK (the cheap one).
  • Look for the table with people wearing trackable nametags etc.
  • PAID parking is available on-street nearby.

WHY:

  • I would like to present "my 4 geocaching goals for 2021".
  • We can talk about some of the project-gc and other challenges.
  • I think this date is an excellent date for having a geocaching event.  It would also be a great DATE to hide some caches *wink*.

HOW:

  • Mures Lower Deck is a glorified fish N chips cafe.
  • Current COVID-19 restrictions permit small events such as this in Tasmania. Mures can get busy but has a COVIDSafe plan for the venue, with the usual hand wash upon entry, arrows, places to stand, barcodes for checkin, etc.
  • There are a couple of larger tables in Mures but depending on numbers we may not be able to all sit together.  If we have too many people (too large for the two larger tables) RSVP, then I may need to move this event to another (similar) venue in the Hobart CBD area and will update this page & post an announcement.
  • Geocaching event listings require an event to be free.  This event is at an eatery that has a COVIDsafe plan, so it's free in so far as as you are not required to purchase food but will be seated on a table with other people who will be, and of course you would not be permitted to bring in outside food & drink.
  • Due to the changing situation, it may be necessary to relocate this event nearby and any changes will be logged as announcments to this event page.

COVID-19 Housekeeping

Please adhere to all directions and signage from the venue in line with their COVIDSafe plan and the current government requirements, including the current guidelines here: https://www.coronavirus.tas.gov.au/families-community/gatherings-density-and-physical-distancing and the updated December 5th Public Health Directives (availble on the same website, or newer directives if they are made).

DO NOT ATTEND IF:

  • You are unwell, have a cough, fever or any other potential symptoms of COVID-19.
  • You have been in contact with someone suspected of having COVID-19 or have attended an area known to have COVID-19 outbreaks.
  • You have been ordered to self-isolate/quarantine.

Many factors may place some individuals at higher risk of acquiring an infection and/or experiencing a severe resultant illness.  Please consider this in your decision to attend.
