Geocache Description:

15 May 2021, 10:00 - 14:00

NOTE: We will be following all Indiana mask guidelines. As of April 6, Clark County is following the State and will drop the mask mandate to a mask advisory. Therefore at this event, masks will not be mandatory, but highly encouraged.

We will send update announcement(s) and post to Facebook as the event gets closer.

Thanks to you-know-what we were not able to host the 19th Annual Indiana Spring Picnic in 2020... so let's try again in 2021!

The 19th Annual Indiana Spring Picnic
Charlestown State Park
Clark Shelter
May 15, 2021

Schedule:

10:00 am - Registration & ice breaker (sign the log, grab a nametag)
12:00 pm - Lunch (see details below)
12:45 pm - Game prizes awarded and 50/50 raffle winner announced
1:00 pm (or immediately following awards/raffle) - Group photo
2:00 pm - Clean up and head out!

*Note: We have the building reserved for the whole day and you are more than welcome to hang out. But if you choose to stay at the shelter, we ask that you leave the area clean so we do not incur any surprise clean-up fees.

Lunch:

For 2021, we will be opting away from the usual pitch-in lunch for the safety of our guests. We invite you to bring your own lunch and drinks to enjoy.

We will also provide small trash bags and ask that you CITO out your own trash. This event generates quite a lot of garbage, and this minor request helps us enormously.

There should be plenty of picnic table seating, but if you prefer to bring your own chair, please feel free. There is a large lawn -- take advantage!

Activities:

Closest to the Pin contest will go on from 10am until Noon. Prize awarded after lunch.

A get-to-know-your-neighbor Meet & Greet game will be available. Once your sheet is filled, turn it in for an opportunity to win a prize (awarded after lunch).

We will have a 50/50 raffle available for $1 per ticket -- the winner gets 50% of the total pot, with the other 50% going to recoup costs incurred by the hosts.

As mentioned earlier, there is a large lawn next to the shelter. We will bring some lawn games and invite you to bring your own as well!

Notes:

There is a gate fee to enter this park: As of the published date of this event, non-commercial vehicles with Indiana license plates are $7, with out-of-state plates $9. *Please note that this information is current as of the date this event was posted. We will change if needed, but you may also check the Indiana DNR website for the most up-to-date information regarding entrance fees.

Per the INDNR, this building is ADA accessible.

Vault toilets are available across the parking lot from the shelter.

We will not be creating a new pathtag for the 2021 event; however we will have tags from the 2020 event that never happened for those interested.

We gladly welcome pets at our event. However per park rules, pets must be kept on a leash at all times, and of course, please clean up after your furry friend as needed.

Camping:

Camp sites are now available through the IDNR Reservation website. The event hosts will be on site 189.

A campground map will be uploaded to this page shortly, showing existing reservations. We will update as necessary -- if you would like your site on the map, please post your reserved site number here or on the Facebook event page.
