Burn Some Dogs! Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

Team 150%: The San Jacinto River Cachers found out yesterday that the US Forest Service is finally going to fix Stubblefield Bridge starting next week with construction extending through Spring 2021. This will result in the dirt boat ramp next to the bridge being closed, potentially blocking the river at the bridge, and lots of noise near the camp site. For that reason we have decided to cancel these events and are looking to move south to another camp ground.

Geocache Description:

16 January 2021, 12:00 - 14:00

The San Jacinto River Cachers are taking the party north to Lake Conroe this time!  A geography lesson for some....Lake Conoe lies on the northern reach of the West Fork San Jacinto River.

The great thing about this camp out is a kayak, boat, etc is not needed to reach the camp out points.  You can drive right up to your camping spot in your vehicle.  Now with that being said most of the caches being placed will require a kayak or canoe to reach.

Right now the plan is we will camp in the Overflow Camp Ground (east side of river) of the Stubblefield Camping Area.  Due to the Stubblefield Bridge being washed out and not repaired this means there will not be access to the restrooms in the actual camp ground (west side of river) unless you paddle over.  We decided on the Overflow Camp as it should provide us all an oppotunity to camp together as Stubblefield is first come first serve and with white bass fishing heating up it may be busy.

Camping and Caching Plan

Friday - January 15th, 2021 @ 18:00 - GCXXXXXX - Friday Night Camp Lights! - Come setup your tent or come by and enjoy some camaraderie.  Dinner will not be provided however we will have grills going so feel free to bring anything you would like to cook.

Saturday - January 16th, 2021 @ 8:00 AM - Unofficial Event - Whatever we get hid will publish at 8 AM.  We are going to reinstitute a previous rule.  To claim a smiley you must go to the physical cache.  We had no problem with team tackling caches at the last event due to the sheer number that published but this time we will not have as many (north end of Conroe is hard to navigate due to stumps thus slowing us down) and we honestly want to see people caching together instead of divide and conquer.  The same rule still applies that if you get there that day you can claim FTF.  In addition due to the amount of stumps in Lake Conroe Team 150% is not going to be available to provide effective shuttling.

Saturday - Jan 16th, 2021 @ 12:00 PM - GCXXXXX - Let's Burn Some Dogs - We will provide the usual hamburger, hotdog, and chip fare.

Saturday - Jan 16th, 2021 @ 7:00 PM - Unofficial Event - Night Caching Stubblefield Style - For those that have done and enjoyed LHWP Night Cache (GC8HHJH) or love slogging through the deep woods and paddling a river at night get ready.  We are attempting to outdo the LHWP Night Cache and this one should be epic!  Note that a kayak or canoe is required to find this cache.

Saturday Jan 16th @ 8:00 PM - GCXXXXX - 1st Annual Stubblefield Camp Out - Come and enjoy the camp fire.  Marshmallows and smores will be provided (find your own stick lol).  Dinner will be potluck and the "cost for dinner attendance" is providing a dinner item or dessert.  When logging "Will Attends" please list what you plan to cook or bring.  Note that camping and / or providing a dinnier item is not required to attend.  To claim smiley you must be at camp ground after 8:00 PM.

Looking forward to a great time!
