Geocache Description:

27 October 2020, 12:30 - 13:30

"Did you know that in 1963 there were well over a thousand livestock grazing on the Park Lands?"  Well thats what it says on the information board in the Mary Lee Park (Park27B) It goes on to say  that the last two dozen cows that remained in the Park, next to the North Adelaide Railway Station, were finally removed in 1972, while 60 horses still graze in Lefevre Park/Nantu Warma (Park 6) in North Adelaide.

I remember my late grandmas' stories of her running across the South Parklands to avoid the cows.  That was from whats now Greenhill Road to her school in the City in the 1920s, those cows were everywhere!!

In 2017, the park was named after Mary Lee, an Irish-Australian suffragist and social reformer in South Australia.  Mary Lee (1821-1909) was a political and social reformer, founder of the South Australian Women's Suffrage League in July 1888.

Come and join me for some local, sweet, round treats and some flavoured milk, BYO lunch.

TUESDAY 27TH OCTOBER, 2020    1230PM-130PM
