Geocache Description:

Until recently, there was no public war memorial on view in Cockerton, though in St Marys Church there is a wooden plaque with 39 names of those from the village who went to war. Over the last year or so, there was some fundraising, resulting in the £8,000 needed being obtained to erect a public memorial. The memorial itself is made out of sandstone from Witton Fell near Leyburn, on the edge of the village green, and renowned local stonemason, David France, was engaged to construct it.

The final location is N54 32.ABC    W001 34.DEF
