A Tri-State Geocachers tradition continues into its 9TH year with a twist. This year it will be a TRUNK or TREAT! What that means is because of Covid-19, we will be holding it outdoors in a Socially Distanced Safe manner using our cars as Trick-or-Treat locations.
Join the Tri-State Geocachers for Tri-State Trunk-or-Treat IX, being held at the unused parking area of the Westfall Shopping Center where a defunct Supercenter used to be. We'll be holding the event on Saturday, October 31 at 10:30 am until about 12 noon.
For those of you who have not participated in a Trunk-or-Treat before, what you will do is arrive at the event and park at least 30 feet away from other cars and open you trunk. This is where the fun starts!
Participants are encouraged to decorate your trunk in an interesting fashion in a Halloween theme. Spooky, Funny or just plain Eerie. You will be responsible for the candy you will be giving out. It is suggested that the candy be commercially wrapped and that you bring tongs to dispense it to the revelers. Do not put the candy in a bowl and allow the Trunk-or-Treaters to help themselves.
We'll gather at the posted coordinates near the Light Post, rain or shine. The photos will be taken by 11:00 and Trunk-or-Treating will begin soon after - so please plan on arriving by the start of the event at 10:30am, you don't want to miss the start.
It's encouraged, whether adult or kid, that you come in costume. We'll be shooting individual and small-group pictures and one large-group picture. After treat exchange, we'll re-gather and prizes will be awarded for various categories. There will be ample time for safe social interaction.
Caching with dogs? They're welcome to trunk-or-treat right along with you, so long as they're kept on a leash.
Please adhere to the Pennsylvania Governer’s mandate on the use of masks (Medical - Not-Halloween) and social distancing requirements.
Please help us in planning by posting your Will-Attend log ASAP and telling us the number in your party, so that we can be prepared.
Are you new to geocaching or geo-events? This is an excellent time to come and join the fun - there are many folks ready to help you along even if you don't have your own GPS unit. Do you have a friend who is thinking of trying out geocaching? This is an excellent time to invite them, as there will be plenty of opportunity to interact with other cachers and learn and use geocaching-like skills. Just bring yourself, your most fun, adventurous attitude, and get ready for Halloween done geo-style
