ALL cachers must follow state mandates of social distancing 🧍↔️🧍, face masks 😷, etc. This is an outdoor event, so under IL Region 1 Mitigation rules [updated 3.Oct.2020], this event is limited to 25 people at a time. If expected guests exceed this amount, we'll have to stagger attendance to limit ourselves. I hope that geocachers will understand and appreciate the above guidelines in an effort to keep everyone safe and healthy. HOWEVER as always, it is up to each individual cacher to determine their own safety protocols to attend any event listings.
A recent trend in late-October candy-harvesting has been the trunk-or-treat events designed as a safer way for costumed children to get their goodies. This event-cache is meant to be a similar way for the children of geocachers to gather and meet each other, while collecting some amount of treats as well. Come out to Severson Dells Forest Preserve picnic shelter on Friday from 4:00 – 4:30 PM for a good time of meet 'n' greet 'n' candy-eat!
Whether you're a costumed kid-cacher, a caching parent with trick-or-treating children, or even a caching grandparent who just enjoys granting grand grins to growing guys and gals, come out with the rest of us for this fun, family-friendly, forest-frolic, fructose-feasting, fall festival!
Adult geocachers should bring plenty of treats to share with all the kids. Consider passing out candy from a large-sized cache container or that come pre-packaged in small cache containers, if you like. There are lots of picnic tables here, and each cacher can stake out a table and pass out treats as the kids roam around showing off their costumes. I don't know how many kids we'll have, so plan to bring plenty for the adults to trade afterward as well! (Since this is before the actual Halloween night, you can always pass out today's leftovers on that day, too.)
