Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Temple Newsam East Loop (TNEL). This is a circular walk that takes you around The Avenue, farmland, and former industrial areas of the  Temple Newsam estate. It should take around two hours to complete the three mile route. The circuit is numbered clockwise but can be done the other way round, depending on your preference. There are a couple of other caches

The Avenue was the original entrance to Temple Newsam House and Estate. Leaving Bullerthorpe Lane, the drive took visitors over a mile to the house. The first half of the journey gave a magnificent view of the house, before dipping down and bulging northwards to skirt the Menagerie Ponds. The approach then rises around the edge of a small plantation, affording those arriving a second awesome vista of the house.

Today, the course of The Avenue follows the route layed by Capability Brown in the 1760s, with the dip and curves slightly remodelled. As such, you can still have a brilliant view looking east down The Avenue across the grounds towards the House, which today are both owned by Leeds City Council. Before completing this cache, you should most definitely make sure that you take in the view towards the house.

At the published co-ordinates there is an information board, from which you need to gather information in order to complete the final location, N 053° 46.ABC W 001° 2D.EFG.

A - North Plantation

B - Menagerie

C - Spring

D - Pegasus

E - Menagerie

F - Millennium

G - Whitehead

The cache is hidden at the final co-ordinates, a short distance away. You're looking for a concealed nano tube, hidden in a larger host. Limited parking can be found on Bullerthorpe Lane; please adhere to the parking signs, and at busy times you're likely to find all spaces have been taken. At evenings, weekends and holidays the estate is very popular and you'll need to make sure you use suitable stealth. The paths around here can get very muddy or even waterlogged. Please replace as found. Good luck.

Congratulations to Leeds Tyke for their FTF.
