Geocache Description:

Welcome to an old world language.

Cache is not located at posted coordinates.

You will need a permanent marker to sign log.

I visited the Coumeenoole Ogham Stone on the Dunmore headland, very near the western tip of the Dingle Peninsula, County Kerry, Ireland.

If you ever get the chance to visit that area, here are the coordinates of the stone.

N52 06.617, W10 28.388

328 feet above the Atlantic Ocean.

It has been dated to the early centuries A.D..

There are curious marks on the stone and with a little research I was able to decipher them.

That inscription roughly reads: "Erc son of Mac-Erce.

These were markers of clan or an individual's territories.

Looking at the stone closer I found that there was another set of marks on the back edges of the stone.

This newly discovered set led me somewhere else.

Here is what I found: See photos.
