With the postponement of NZ Mega 2020 GC87777 to 2021, you are probably looking for something fun to do Labour Day weekend this year.
Geocachers love nice dry tracks that take them to GZ without having to go through mud. You can make this dream a reality at Duder Regional Park. Please come to help improve tracks at the park. There will be jobs for everyone based on your ability.
We will meet at the parking area at the posted coordinates at 9:30AM. Gorby's Cafe will open for morning tea in the parking area. The gates will be opened so we can carpool up to the Cattle Yards which will be the base for the day's work.
You do not need to bring any tools for this work. These will be supplied by the Park Rangers to ensure that the tools are free of soil and do not have any kauri disease on them. They will supply shovels, rakes, etc.
But do bring something to share for morning tea at Gorby’s Cafe, and gloves, water, lunch, sunscreen, hats, boots, appropriate clothing, etc.
We will work on tracks near the Cattle Yards. The land is mostly flat with a few hills. We will shape and form the track and level out the gravel so that Geocachers have an easy time when they use the track.
Toilets are at the parking area only.
If you come later, please make your way up to the Cattle Yards. From the parking area, follow the road straight through the entry gate with the water on your right for about 1km, then turn left to go to the Cattle Yards.
There are plenty of caches at Duder Regional Park, so if you need a break, you can grab a few of them.
We assume that COVID-19 restrictions will be lifted on the date of the CITO. If this is not the case, we will follow all government rules and postpone, if necessary.
