Geocache Description:

16 August 2020, 16:00 - 17:00

This is a one hour tribute to the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Aron Presley

Elvis was born in a two-room house in Tupelo, Mississippi, on January 8, 1935. His twin brother, Jessie, was stillborn, leaving Elvis to grow up as an only child.

Elvis and his parents moved to Memphis, Tennessee, in 1948, and he graduated from Humes High School there in 1953. Elvis' musical influences were the pop and country music of the time, the gospel music he heard in church and at the all-night gospel sings he frequently attended, and the black R&B he absorbed on historic Beale Street as a Memphis teenager. In 1954, Elvis began his singing career at the legendary Sun Studios in Memphis. In late 1955, his recording contract was sold to RCA Victor. By 1956, he was an international sensation.
Elvis starred in 31 movies and 2 concert documentary films, all of which were at least moderately success. For a number of years he was one of Hollywood's top box office draws and one of its highest-paid actors. His two most critically acclaimed films, Jailhouse Rock in 1957 and King Creole in 1958 have become classics of their era. His movies and concert films enjoy a healthy life today in television syndication and home video sales and rentals. Some of his top-selling music came from his movies. Eleven of his movie soundtrack albums went to the top ten, and of those, four went to number one.

Elvis died at his home,.Graceland in Memphis on August 16, 1977 of heart failure. He was 42 years old.

Come bring your Elvis Sunglesses, cold drinks, and peanut butter and banana sandwiches and lets play some Elvis tunes while celebrating the 43rd anniversary of his passing.  There is ample shade and picnic tables for people to sit and practice social distancing.  MASKS WILL BE REQUIRED unless you're downing a peanut butter and nanner sandwich.  Hand Sanitizer WILL be on site, but feel free to bring your own.
We'll start at 4:00pm with a toast to the King and then socialize until 5:00pm.  Children and dogs are welcome as this is a very nice park with bike and walking trails, disc golf, and a baseball field.

Thankya, thankyaverymuch
