Šī ir spāņu izcelsmes suņu šķirne un tie savā dzimtenē tek izmantoti zaķu medīšanai. Mednieka potenciāls ir galvenais selekcijas kritērijs to īpašniekiem (galgeros). Mednieku lokā labākie suņi un to pēcnācēji ir labi pazīstami, tāpēc oficiālie kluba ciltsraksti ne vienmēr tiek noformēti pat ļoti vērtīgiem dzīvniekiem. Turpretim cilvēkam no malas, kas vēlas iegādāties īstu sugas pārstāvi būtu jāgriežas klubā pēc padoma. Eiropā darbojas arī vairākas šo suņu glābšanas organizācijas, kas piedāvā adoptēt šos suņus, kad traumas vai sliktu rezultātu gadījumā tie kļūst nevajadzīgi saviem saimniekiem. Plan to give him frequent early socialization to overcome his tendency toward shyness. In the home, he’s quiet, but when he is hunting he turns into a lively, energetic dog.
