Geocache Description:

A little bridge on the footpath from Park Hall Lane, Mapperley, to Bell Lane, Smalley, over a stream the name of which I can't find out - the stream feeds into Mapperley Reservoir. A lovely footpath, the bridge is on the edge of the Woodland Trust's newly designated "Young People's Forest at Mead". Not a lot to see with regard to this land yet, but you are only a short walk away from the mature woodland around Mapperley Reservoir, and in 40 years this area should be wonderful!

There are many ways you can approach this location; you can walk from Mapperley, or Smalley, or Heanor Gate or Shipley - all fairly long walks, but there are loads of other caches in Shipley Park. If you approach from Mapperley Village (Park Hall Lane) you may encounter cattle. However, if you want the quickest experience, then the nearest parking (Pay and Display) is at Mapperley Reservoir, as shown in the waypoint. If you are coming from this direction, be aware that many of the footpaths are not shown on the Ordnance Survey map.

The Little Bridges series was started by Stanthews in 2009 to highlight small footbridges in remote parts of Wiltshire. Since then the series has been expanded by others all over the country and starting to spread fast. There is a stats listing run by Billiethecat, so you can see how many Little Bridges you have found, you can find it here:- https://littlebridgesseries.wordpress.com/ . If you would like to add to the series, please contact Stan on stanthews@aol.com and he will give you a number for your bridge, to qualify, the bridge must be a foot bridge too small for vehicles, please make sure your title exactly matches “Little Bridges # xxxx then the name” including spaces so it will get picked up and added to stats list.
