This year's edition of the ditch cleanup is a special one. Due to the pandemic we had to delay our usual spring cleanup. It's time to be the cabin fever and come out for some fresh air. Social distancing will be effect to ensure everyone's safety. We recommend everyone bring their own disposable gloves and grabber/pickup stick. We will supply the garbage bags.
This will be year 3 of our partnership with Manitoba Infrastructure. Below is some history and information of the event.
We have decided to join Manitoba Infrastructures Adopt a Highway Program. We thought this would be a great way for geocachers to give back to the community by helping to keep our highways litter free. This program requires us to do 2 clean-ups per year for the next 2 years. We will be taking care of a 4km stretch of highway just west of Dauphin. As a thank you, Manitoba Infrastructure will be erecting a sign to recognize our caching groups clean-up efforts. The more help we can get the better!
There will be strict safety precautions in place to keep everyone safe during the cleanup that we will go over at the beginning of the event.
Due to safety procedures put in place by Manitoba Infrastructure they require us to follow the rules below:
---You must be 12 years of age or older to be onsite during the cleanup
---You must wear bright clothing
---You must wear gloves and sturdy footwear
We will meet at the posted coordinates and will go over the plan for the cleanup. Bring whatever drinks, snacks and bug/sun protection you require. If you will be arriving late please send us a message to let us know and we can meet up during the event and let you know what to do. We encourage everyone to come out and give us a hand. If you can’t come until later in the morning no problem! Just show up whenever you can to join the cleanup.
