It's International Geocaching Day so lets celebrate with a CITO - which stands for Cache In, Trash Out. This unique type of event is designed to promote keeping our Earth clean. This is something cachers should do on each caching adventure.
Quincy is blessed to have a wonderful park system. The park district consists of approximately 1012 acres of park land. They manage a swimming pool, batting cage and paddle boats. We have tennis courts, soccer fields, football fields, a golf course, a marina and public boat launching ramps. The District continues expanding the Bill Klingner Trail.
The park crew does a wonderful job keeping all these areas clean but this creek had some major flash floods and left a lot of trash along the creek and treeline. Lets show our appreiation and clean a little deeper.
The Event
The event itself will take place on Saturday from 9:00am till 10:00am. New cachers are especially encouraged to attend. I'll bring trash bags and a supply of water. Some suggested things to bring along include: work gloves, good walking/water shoes, a litter picker and a good supply of bug spray and a face mask.
Here's the COVID catch. Following the most current state guidelines, we will practice safe social distancing. Guidelines may change as we ease into the next Phase of opening. We're in Illinois so bring along a face mask and hand sanitizer. Anytime you're within 6 feet of another person, a face mask is required. There is plenty of space and trash to spread out.
